Server Installation
| Step 4 - Server
Installation: (For Installation on a network with a Windows 95/98 File server) |
| 1. | First, insert the CD ROM and it should
auto-start the installation routine. However, if it does not auto-start,
double-click on My Computer, then double-click on your CD ROM drive, then
Double-click on Install. |
| 2. | Press the "Install To Server"
button, then press the OK button. |
| 3. | Press the Next button on the Welcome
screen and answer "Yes" to the License screen. Press the Next
button for the Readme screen. You will be asked for the path to install to.
At this point, select a location on the server to install to. You can either
type the path if you know it or you may select it. Press the Browse button
located inside of the Destination Directory box. To select a location, first
select a drive from the Drives combo box. In this case, we are installing to
the J: drive and into a new folder. |

| After selecting the
J: drive from the Drives combo box, you can click in the path box and type
DaVinci after the backslash (\). In this example the path should read J:\DaVinci. J: is the equivalent of the shared folder you created on the server. The following word "DaVinci" is the folder underneath the shared folder you are actually going to load DaVinci into. This process will create it if it is not already there. When you are finished, press the OK button. Note the location where you installed the program to. You will need it when setting up the workstations. Installed program to: _____________________________________ After you press the Next button, you will be asked for the Setup Type (Typical, Compact or Custom). We suggest that you go with the default Typical value and simply press the Next button. All supporting files will then be installed. Near the end of the process, the BDE Setup screen will appear. |

| Everything should
be set properly. The first option is the default option. All you will need
to do is press the OK button. |
After installation, we suggest that you run DaVinci-MIMS on this computer. Let it go through the file checking routine and log in as Admin to set the Administrator's password. Once in DaVinci-MIMS, you may exit and then install the workstations.
That pretty much does it for the Server portion of the Installation.
